Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) will be the co-organizer of the 6th International Conference “Earth from Space – the Most Effective Solutions”. The conference will be held in October 1 -3, 2013 in the Moscow Region “Vatutinki” resort hotel. Adviser to the Roscosmos Head Valery Zaichko will deliver during the conference the report: “Russian of Remote Sensing System: Development Status and Prospects” and will talk about the practical uses of space equipment, technologies and services in addressing social and economic solutions.
Today, the Russian constellation of Earth observation satellites include :
The Federal Space Agency and ScanEx RDC already had the experience of a fruitful cooperation. For example, when organizing the conference on satellite technologies in APEC in October 2012 in Vladivostok. The conference brought together more than 90 experts from 14 countries and has become a platform for active discussion of the use of satellite technology in the Asia-Pacific Region. Then the Roscosmos management highly evaluated the results of joint activities.
In 2012-2013 Roscosmos in cooperation with ScanEx RDC and other partners opened educational centers of space services at the secondary school № 85 and at the Moscow and the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography.
In 2013, the space monitoring system of the Russian Emergencies Ministry started to work with the data of the “Canopus-V” satellite in direct mode of reception. The universal small-size “UniScan” ground stations system, developed and produced by ScanEx RDC, are the backbones of this system. Stations are installed in Moscow, Vologda, Krasnoyarsk and Vladivostok and allow obtaining satellite images from different satellites at high revisit frequency for emergencies monitoring, forecasting and response. The hardware part of the “UniScan” station is universal and programmable, allowing you to acquire the information from Earth observation satellites in a wide range of formats. Due to this fact the opportunity to work with the “Canopus-V” satellite data of the entire emergencies space monitoring system was ensured within a short period of time.
Very soon the Russian universities, having Space Monitoring Centers (SMC) in their structure, will be able free of charge to receive data from the “Meteor-M» № 1 satellite. Today, SMCs are operating at more than 25 universities across the country based on the “UniScan” firmware complex. As a result of joint work of ScanEx RDC and the Research Center for Earth Operative Monitoring the software complex for normalization and cataloging of video data from KMSS sensors of “Meteor-M» № 1 spacecraft has been successfully tested and the software interface of “UniScan” station with the software complex was set up.
The 6th International Conference “Earth from Space – the Most Effective Solutions” will take place on October 1-3, 2013 at the Moscow Region “Vatutinki” resort hotel. Key topics of the conference are: nature protection and access to space images and near real-time satellite-based monitoring services from civil society in Russia and abroad. Conference organizers are: ScanEx Research & Development Center, Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), NGO Transparent World and the Center for Information Technology Innovations.
