  • Rating12345

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. has signed a contract for $2.5 million (CAD) with ScanEx Research and Development Centre (ScanEx) to provide RADARSAT data information to multiple ground stations in Russia over three years. The information will be used by Russian commercial, academic, and government users for applications that include mapping and emergency response.

MDA has supplied ScanEx with RADARSAT data information since 2004, supporting a network of ground stations in Russia that are built, maintained, and serviced by ScanEx. Receiving stations developed at ScanEx RDC and certified to operate with RADARSAT data are located in Moscow, Samara, Megion, Krasnoyarsk, Magadan etc. This enables operational satellite monitoring of all Russian territory and adjacent regions. RADARSAT data is widely applied in Russia for monitoring maritime environmental and shipping situation, for monitoring ice cover in the Arctic Region, for information support of ships navigation though the Northern Sea Route, etc. After signing the long-term contact, MDA and ScanEx companies will be able to provide a high reliability and operability of providing radar images for the benefit of Russian customers.
