Ordnance Survey to Showcase New Addressing Products at Industry Conference

  • Rating12345

The new addressing products from GeoPlace LLP, a joint venture between Ordnance Survey and the Local Government Group, will be showcased for the first time at the annual conference. Delegates will be able to view demonstrations of the new products and find out about the many new features and benefits.

The AGI conference, held in Nottingham on 20-22 September, has been the geographic information industry’s annual flagship event for over a decade. Ordnance Survey, as a Platinum Sponsor of the event, will be taking the opportunity to showcase the new addressing products as well as highlighting examples of how its location data has enabled innovation and delivered efficiencies to both the private and public sector.

The new addressing products will be available to both the private and public sector, providing customers with address information from a single database for England and Wales. It combines the best parts of local Government’s National Land and Property Gazetteer, Ordnance Survey’s OS MasterMap Address Layer 2, the Royal Mail Postcode Address File and the Valuation Office cross-reference unique IDs. It is anticipated that the new database will provide efficiency gains, assist with more accurate and improved delivery of services and enable greater partnership working with private- and third-sector delivery bodies.

Ordnance Survey will also be supporting the conference Solutions Centre with a hands‑on session on the new addressing products. The sessions will give delegates the chance to experiment with the new products and understand how to load the datasets onto different pieces of software, including commercial and open-source GIS applications.

Chris Chambers, from Ordnance Survey’s Pre and Post Sales Support technical team, comments: “This session is an absolute must for any AGI GeoCommunity attendee who wants to get under the bonnet of the new addressing products, and get a head-start in understanding how to load the data.”

In addition to the Solutions Centre, delegates can find out more information on GeoPlace and the new addressing products by attending a breakout session on day one –Addressing; a partnership approach with Richard Mason, Managing Director at GeoPlace.

Ordnance Survey’s Director General and Chief Executive, Dr Vanessa Lawrence CB, will be kicking off the second day with her keynote speech. Vanessa will be addressing attendees on how GI is being used across the world, and the difference it is making to economies, businesses and individuals.
