Since the deadly fire in San Bruno that was caused by a ruptured gas line, Bay Area residents have been asking: Are there old gas pipes near where I live? Pacific Gas and Electric Company keeps a list of the 100 gas pipeline sections at highest risk of failure along with their locations. But the utility has refused to make the list public because of what it says are “security” concerns. Below is a map indicating several of those sections, based on PG&E’s own assessments found in public documents and a map provided by the California Energy Commission. Read More
