Dr. Allan Carswell is Conference Speaker at 53rd Photogrammetric Week in Stuttgart

Optech Incorporated, the world’s leading manufacturer of advanced lidar and camera survey instruments, is pleased to announce that its Chairman of the Board, Dr. Allan Carswell, has been invited to speak on the opening day of the 53rd Photogrammetric Week at the University of Stuttgart in Germany, September 5 – 9, 2011. This year’s topic is “Multiray Photogrammetry Meets Advanced Lidar”.

The Photogrammetric Week Series is a regular event initiated in 1909 and held since 1973 at the University of Stuttgart. The internationally recognized seminar showcases advances in the fields of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics.

Dr. Carswell is an internationally recognized leader in lidar applications, a field in which he has been working since its very inception in the early 1960s. He founded Optech Incorporated in 1974 to develop commercial systems based on lidar technology. He led and managed the growth of Optech, expanding from its base in atmospheric lidar 37 years ago to its current position as a leading developer and manufacturer of commercial lidar systems for a wide and growing range of applications. Dr. Carswell has also been appointed to the Order of Canada, the highest civilian award a Canadian can receive.
