DENR Institutionalizes Coastal Resource Management in Cagayan

To enhance coastal resources and develop livelihood of coastal communities, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) region 2 has institutionalized the implementation of the integrated coastal resources management project (ICRMP) to 12 participating local government units of Cagayan. The project was implemented in the marine corridor of Cagayan, which was identified by the Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Priorities with national and global importance due to extremely high biodiversity. Forester Benjamin Tumaliuan, regional executive director, said the project’s components include rationalization of policy on coastal resources management, institutional strengthening and development, biodiversity conservation, enterprise development and income diversification, and social and environmental services and facilities enhancement.
