The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) announces the formation of an OGC Web Services (OWS) Publish/Subscribe (PubSub) Standards Working Group (SWG) to meet the need of many geospatial applications to provide notification of events such as a sensor reading falling below a certain threshold or new data becoming available as a service. Often the events need to be known as soon as possible – for example in emergency management, early warning and monitoring applications. In these cases it is useful if clients can subscribe to a service that automatically sends a notice when an event of interest occurs. Learn More
