BLAST Delivers Tangible Results

Deliverables were: the Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) Harmonization Checker tool, the State of the Art of Maritime Information Management Research, and the Requirements Specification for the Maritime Data Collection System. The BLAST project group partners successfully produced all three project deliverables on time and within budget in the first six months of BLAST.  ENC Harmonization Checker (ENC-HC) is a tool that automatically compares adjacent ENCs and identifies geometric inconsistencies and inconsistent use of attributes. Prior to the development of ENC-HC, finding inconsistencies between adjacent ENCs from different producers was a manual, labour intensive process, prone to errors. The ENC-HC negates the need for manual inspection and delivers the results of the analysis as ENC overlay files in S57 format supported by an XML formatted report. Read More
