SSE Telecoms Implements GE’s Smallworld Network Inventory Solution

SSE Telecoms, the telecoms business ofScottish and Southern Energy, has selected GE’s Smallworld NetworkInventory solution as their asset management system, GE announced today.The Smallworld Network Inventory solution will increase the efficiencyand accuracy of network access records to enable a new level of customerservice across SSE Telecoms 8000km UK-wide fiber optic network. “We selected GE’s Smallworld Network Inventory for its cost effective,out-of-the-box solution,” said Mark Corney, Director of Operations.”With a fully integrated physical and logical network inventorysolution, we are able to quickly streamline our processes and providedifferent departments with an accurate and reliable view of the networkinfrastructure.” The Smallworld Network Inventory solution will migrate existing sourcesof SSE Telecoms network and services information into one centraliseddatabase, allowing internal users easier access to data while providingweb access for authorised customers to locate SSE Telecoms assets.Featuring two, integrated solution sets, the Physical Network Inventorysolution will enable SSE Telecoms users to manage the physical networkassets against a geospatial background, while the Logical NetworkInventory solution will provide an existing and planned view of theircustomer services.
