World leading geospatial technology supplier, 3D Laser Mapping, is unveiling an innovative multi-platform mapping system to the African market at the September Geomatics Indaba 2016 in South Africa.
Named ROBIN, the platform is the first of its kind on the market and provides three alternative mapping options rolled into one solution. The versatile system offers many different methods of data capture, meaning users are no longer limited to just one mounting platform.
ROBIN is a multi-purpose all round system with the ability to capture data in WALK, FLY or DRIVE mode. The unit integrates a laser scanner, IMU navigation system, 12 MP camera, two GNSS antennas, a touch screen control unit, a 3-in-1 mounting system and software data capture and processing. Both survey-grade and GIS-grade systems are also available with an optional GEOSLAM upgrade, available early next year.
Graham Hunter, executive chairman at 3D Laser Mapping, further explained, “ROBIN is an extremely exciting product for the industry in Africa and is the first on the market to offer a three-in-one system. At the leading-edge of reality capture, ROBIN allows the collection of high quality data from areas such as footpaths, forests and coastlines that are only accessible by foot. Our customers are looking for flexible solutions that can support a high return on investment, and this product offers a unique value proposition.

The team at 3D Laser Mapping will beofficially unveiling ROBIN on stands 49 and 51 at Geomatics Indaba 2016, which takes place between 12th and 14th September at the Emperors Palace, Gauteng, South Africa.
