Pitney Bowes Launches a Never-before-seen View of Mining Projects for Investors

  • Rating12345

Mining companies will now be able to offer a never-before-seen view of mining projects across the globe, giving potential investors the transparent and reliable information they need to overcome an increasing reluctance to invest in new projects.

pbEncom, the natural resources division of Pitney Bowes, developed Discover Web 3D, to let potential mining investors visualise, interrogate and better understand exploration results. The resulting view of projects across Australia and the world is delivered via a rich, 3D interactive web map.

Investors need to see clear and verifiable data regarding factors such as drilling programs, cut-off grades and return rates to confidently invest.

Complex 3D models have long been used to demonstrate asset worth, but access to this valuable information has been previously restricted for investors.

Using a new interactive website, investors and analysts will be able to challenge assumptions, confirm theories and make informed, data-led decisions regarding the potential for a project’s success.

Dan Haigh, natural resources industry director at pbEncom, said: “Via a web map, resource investors can interact with a 3D view of projects right across the globe for the first time, which helps them understand why they should or shouldn’t be investing in particular companies.

“Discover Web 3D will provide resource companies with the ability to clearly demonstrate the credentials of their management team and that they have an asset worth investing in.

“Resource organisations can now simply communicate project updates to deliver a deeper insight, via a simple web browser in 3D, 4D and even 5D.

“Previously, according to reports, information such as drill results has only been made publicly available via press releases or visuals that cannot be queried. This can heavily impact a mining project’s likelihood of securing capital, especially when coupled with some investors’ perceived view that mining projects tend to be over-optimistic about future results.(1) ”

Mark Gordon, senior resource analyst at Breakaway Research and user of the technology said: “The ability to access a resource project, both online and in 3D, is a real plus for investors of all levels and backgrounds.  The context and perspective it provides is invaluable. Explorers can now present their project and results in a way that is transparent and easily accessible.”

Michael Shea, CEO of International Star Resources, said: “International Star was introduced to Discover Web 3D by its creators. After a demonstration of its capabilities, I knew it was the solution we needed to not only determine a mine plan, but as an investor relations tool. I showcased our gold project (Van Deemen), via a webinar and the investment community was enthralled with the way Discover Web 3D can provide a view and access to the project that other solution providers couldn’t.”

Other exploration and mining companies taking advantage of this new way of communicating with their investors include : YTC, Rox Resources, MacPherson Resources, Peel Mining, Red Metals, Fission Uranium and Kingsgate Consolidated.
