Gresham, Smith and Partners Attracts and Retains Top Industry Professionals through Bentley LEARN

  • Rating12345

PR – Gresham, Smith and Partners (GS&P), a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design, and planning firm, won a 2008 Be Award of Excellence in the “Developing the Infrastructure Workforce” category.

The project is featured in the new publication “The Year in Infrastructure 2008,” available online from Bentley Systems, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for the infrastructure that sustains our world, at The award recognizes GS&P’s commitment to expanding the knowledge and skills of its infrastructure professionals. GS&P strives to attract, retain, and mentor the best the workforce has to offer by challenging, recognizing, and rewarding its staff through innovative initiatives, such as its award-winning EXCEL training program. The EXCEL program, which includes in-depth Bentley product training through Bentley LEARN OnDemand eLearning and live, instructor-led distance learning provided by the Bentley Institute, ensures that GS&P staff members get the training they need to succeed in their various roles. In 2007, GS&P employed Bentley’s training subscription program to:

·       Provide continuous professional development to everyone in the firm,

·       Train 175 GS&P staff members through almost 500 online Bentley courses. At that rate the subscription paid for itself within the first 70 classes,

·       Reduce the time to productivity for new hires from one month to one week,

·       Make extensive use of distance learning and OnDemand eLearning to reclaim lost productivity and significantly lower training costs by eliminating travel from its 18 offices to a central location for training.

Paul Dougherty, chief technology officer at GS&P, said, “Our firm strives to cultivate a culture of excellence among our staff. Important in attaining this goal is providing the necessary tools and training to allow GS&P’s infrastructure professionals to meet stringent client needs through efficient and effective solutions. By using Bentley’s OnDemand eLearning and distance learning programs, the members of our staff can receive the training they need, when they need it, and as often as they need it. Given our firm’s national presence and multimarket, multidisciplined strategy, this flexibility is critical as we continue to add and train new staff.”
