The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) and Intergraph Corp. have extended their long-standing relationship through a new executive appointment to the association’s board of directors. Volker H. Elste, business development executive in Intergraph’s utilities and communications unit, has been appointed to GITA’s board.
“For many years, Intergraph has been a major contributor to our organization and to the geospatial community as a whole,” said Bob Samborski, executive director at GITA. “Both organizations are dedicated to advancing the use of geospatial information for more informed decision-making. GITA is expanding its charter beyond just geospatial technology to include the full spectrum of geospatial infrastructure solutions. We are confident that the addition of Volker Elste to our board will further bolster the progress we make in evolving the industry.”
Elste has been involved with GITA since 1999, helping to create the association’s Pacific Northwest Chapter and serving as Chapter president and fall program chair. He has been involved in the technology sector for 23 years. Throughout his career and involvement with GITA, Elste has worked to improve operational efficiencies in the electric, gas and telecom sectors.
“Since its inception, GITA has been an invaluable resource to geospatial professionals,” Elste said. “I look forward to helping drive the association’s efforts to educate and prepare additional leaders who wish to make a difference in the geospatial and infrastructure management industries.”
GITA is one of the largest educational associations serving the global geospatial community. Through a series of events, publications and other resources, GITA aims to bring together the nation’s top geospatial professionals to foster information sharing and industry advancement.
