Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Raises $38 Million for Global Conservation

Christie’s, in partnership with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, presents “The 11th Hour Charity Auction,” an evening sale on May 13th to benefit environmental and wildlife conservation efforts supported by the Foundation. Over 30 of today’s most important living artists from around the world have donated masterpieces, many of which were created especially for the auction. The sale of 33 art works that DiCaprio had persuaded artists to donate or create especially for the 11th Hour Action raised $31.7 million on the night, blowing away all the pre-sale estimates and setting 13 new price records for  artists at auction.

Secretaries Vilsack and Jewell Highlight Federal Preparedness for 2013 Western Wildfire Season

During a visit to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho today, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Interior Secretary Sally Jewell outlined the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure collaboration in protecting Americans from wildfire, and urged homeowners and local communities to take steps to reduce their risks during the 2013 fire season.  The outlook for the fire season is severe across much of the Western United States.
