Premier Ed Stelmach says nothing short of the province's future growth is at stake during the spring sitting of the Alberta legislature. The government plans to revise two land-use laws it says are critical to solving the power and planning needs of a rapidly growing population. But those same laws have had cabinet members and government legislature members on the run in recent months. Hundreds of angry landowners have jammed information sessions to give the government an earful on what they call arbitrary seizure of private property under the guise of public planning. Read More
