PR - 9 scientists, PhD students and support personnel in Spatial Data
Infrastructures and GI Science are wanted for short and medium term
contracts
Future Position X (www.fpx.se) is a regional
cluster dealing with research, innovation and industrial development in
the GIS sector. We are now expanding our activities and we are,
together with the University of Gävle (www.hig.se) and the National Land Survey of Sweden (http://www.lantmateriet.se), looking for senior scientists, PhD students and support personnel.
Within
the frameworks of establishing a national SDI in Sweden and business
development at a regional level, research and innovation strategies has
been formulated. To realise these strategies, R&D activities will
be performed within the following fields.
- Spatial Data Infrastructures
Testing
and analysing approaches in addressing technical, legal, economic and
institutional challenges when developing spatial data infrastructures.
This includes assessing and benchmarking different SDI solutions
- Geo-enabled web sensors
To develop new methods of using geo-enabled web sensors, for instance related to configuration and reliability.
- Open maps
To
develop new methods for data entry, updating and quality control of
data entered by non-professionals. Of special interest are questions
related to robustness and reliability.
- 3D City Models
Interoperability issues related to CityGML and IFC.
- Technical support for demonstrations and experimental setups
Of
current interest is to participate in test and demonstration activities
of service-oriented exchange of geodata and services as well as of
draft implementing rules for the Inspire directive
The
projects are supported by various EU program as well as funding from
industry and governments. All positions will be placed at the GIS
cluster in Technology Park in Gävle, where the University of Gävle, FPX
and the Swedish Land Survey are sharing resources.
The senior
scientist shall have a PhD exam or corresponding qualifications, within
one field related to the prioritised scientific areas. The senior
scientist shall, in cooperation with external stakeholders, specify and
execute research projects. In addition, supervision of PhD students
will also be included in the tasks. Also, some minor teaching at the
graduate or postgraduate level is expected (maximum 20 %).
The
PhD students shall either already be enrolled as a PhD student at a
recognised university or be qualified as being enrolled as a PhD
student in the GIS field. The PhD student shall participate in research
projects and carry out research tasks in an independent manner.
The
support personnel shall support market activities and the SDI/GIS
laboratories. One person shall have a good knowledge in computer
systems and networking and the other one should have a good knowledge
in GIS and GI application development.
The positions will be
available from June 1st at earliest. Short term contracts are here
expected to have duration of 6 months and medium term contracts have
duration of 9 – 18 months. For all positions, good knowledge in English
is a requirement. For the support personnel, good knowledge in Swedish
is considered as a merit.
