India needs a comprehensive database of species and traditional products to take advantage of the Geographical Indication (GI) Act experts said. Although the country is just a step away from enactment of GI, there are no 'primary inventory of species'--- of animal or plants--- which, the experts said will be very crucial for the GI. The database will be needed for protecting the country's biodiversity struggling to evade extinction. Read More
