London 2012 Sees the Forest for the Trees

 

In addition to protecting and promoting local biodiversity in its Olympic Park, London 2012 also endeavored to protect flora and fauna in far-away forests. More than two-thirds of the timber used to construct the Olympic Park was certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, with an especially impressive 98 percent of the timber in the Olympic Village meeting this standard.
