Enthused by the panoramic information accessible via software applications such as Google Maps, where a search and a few clicks could throw up detailed maps of neighbourhoods, the government is set to approve a similar project. Called the National Geographical Information System (nat-GIS) project, it will be implemented at a cost of Rs.3,000 crore.
