Protecting Endangered Species From Poaching Using Smart GPS

POP SCI - In an African reserve, GPS chips were recently installed in the horns (often smuggled for medicinal & other uses) of some endangered rhinos to combat poaching. In addition to location tracking, alerts are sent to reserve warden cellphones to notify them of real-time behavior like abnormally rapid movement, exit from the reserve boundaries, or prolonged stillness that are warning signs for things like fleeing, tranquilization, & illegal transportation.
