The 2012 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) is being held in Munich, Germany, on 22–27 July. One of the most important conferences on geoscience and remote sensing is just around the corner. With a record number of 3400 papers to be given, this premier event is set to be one of the biggest highlights in this year’s scientific agenda. It will be the 32nd annual IGARSS event, continuing the tradition of providing a forum for world-class scientists, engineers and educators to obtain up-to-date information about the latest developments in remote sensing, exchange ideas and identify research trends and make contacts with the international remote-sensing community. This year’s conference is set to be more interesting than ever and will also celebrate the 50th birthday of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society. “It will be one of the largest IGARSS symposiums. Some 1700 participants have already registered for the event.” The conference is open to anyone interested in geoscience and remote sensing or involved in the development of Earth observation missions. On the first day, the plenary session will include presentations from Johann-Dietrich Wörner, Chairman of the Executive Board of the German Aerospace Center, Volker Liebig, Director of Earth Observation Programmes at ESA, and Ghassem Asrar, Director of the World Climate Research Programme. | ||||||
